DANCE LAB NEW YORK is the only independent organization exclusively dedicated to promoting and advancing the art form of choreography by gifting vital resources to a diverse range of dancemakers.

In order to create, a choreographer needs dancers, space, and time—three essential elements that are prohibitively expensive. DLNY is an artist-centered, artist-led organization designed to alleviate the substantial fiscal and administrative burdens that stifle creativity. Our residencies provide dancemakers with a salary, a company of professional dancers, expansive studio space, a rehearsal director, key administrative support, and structured time for incubation.

By focusing on process over product, Dance Lab New York provides an oasis where choreographers can feel safe to take the risks that bring forth their boldest visions.

DLNY’S COMMITMENT TO EQUITY, DIVERSITY & INCLUSION

Dance Lab New York was created to support choreographers who represent and reflect a diverse spectrum of identities, life experiences, personal and professional perspectives, and cultural backgrounds. Through our programming, DLNY works to consistently elevate and celebrate differences of race, class, gender identity, ethnicity, sexual orientation, age, ability, and more. We believe that doing so makes our industry stronger and results in the creation of art that speaks to everyone.

Our Founder, Board and Staff are committed to diversity, equity, and inclusion across all sectors of the organization, and will promote anti-racist and anti-sexist practices both internally and with our partners. In doing so, we endeavor to create a more socially just and equitable world.

Our Founder and Board have further outlined their commitments to anti-racism below.
