FALL 2022
The DLNY NextGen Apprenticeship is for gifted choreographers ages 14-18 who are invested in cultivating a creative practice and demonstrate a high level of artistic potential in tandem with emerging leadership skills.
This individualized semester-long apprenticeship includes weekly one-on-one sessions with our resident mentor, esteemed choreographer and arts educator William Carlos Angulo, to help teenage choreographers develop a choreography methodology.
Choreographers will learn how to channel and harness inspiration, incubate movement, create a strategy, and execute their ideas. The semester will culminate in a month-long Lab residency with a professional youth dance company hired by Dance Lab New York.
DLNY NextGen choreographers will leave the Lab with a confident approach to dancemaking, effective management skills, the ability to motivate and collaborate with a team, and a practical understanding of how to navigate professional spaces.
